AWS
Amazon Web Services (AWS) for DAEN Classes
***CLICK THIS FOR A DETAILED DOCUMENTATION FILE!***
For this class, you have been given largely unrestricted access to AWS. You should be aware that every operation in the AWS environment, no matter how inconsequential. incurs an expenditure of actual dollars that must be paid by CEC. As such, you are expected to
- Understand the services you are using during the completion of your project and the costs associated with them;
- Select appropriate resources, given the fact that your project is intended to be a prototype, and not a production system;
- Shut down any AWS resources, such as EC2 instances and SageMaker notebooks, when you are not using them.
The Computing Resources department will be monitoring your usage. Use of excessive resources will be referred to your instructor and the head of the DAEN department.
Getting Support
If you have issues with your AWS account or other AWS resources, email cechelp@gmu.edu AND cc your class’s TA or professor. CEC Computing Resources will assist with technical issues you encounter and can help navigating AWS and can help with sizing EC2 and Sagemaker instances. However, you are expected to understand how to set up and use any AWS services you select for your project.
